EXHIBIT AT RENCONTRES

THE WINK OF AN EYE

“There is a kind of standing-still quality, or stalemate, in which comments and remarks become unimportant, and seeing things as they are becomes the real thing.”

Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoché

“An old courtyard in Poland, a street food stall in Burma or a stone in the Iranian desert – any place, wherever, even ugly and boring, can become fascinating. This occurs when I actually begin to see what I’m looking at, when I immerse myself in the reality and forget myself as the observer. The most important element of this process is the state of mind: attentiveness, openness and freshness – qualities characteristic of contemplation. In practice, I just wander with my camera, conscious of the fact that I do not need to change anything, just notice what is already there.”
